"Spelling Game" explores the suppressed desires of the internal self regarding educational pursuits and passions. We all have hidden academic interests manifesting deep within us, yet we are obstructed by the conventionality and social constructs of compulsory schooling. The girl in blue blends in with her background of an ordinary classroom, standardized by a photo frame, restricted by the alien plasticity of a mass-purchased school chair. She’s instructed to spell out simple words with scrabble pieces, yet her right hand - her writing hand - perpetuates a desire to spell out what she truly has - grudges, against those who look down on her educational expression and creativity.
