the view

“The View” is an oil pastel piece that I made inspired by a photograph taken of mountains near a lake crowded by a clean pretty sky with colorful clouds. My goal for this piece was to create a piece that gives off comforting feelings, while maintaining a mainly cold color palette, I believe that colors can convey emotions very nicely, and that is seen in this piece. The cold colors such as the blue mountains and water could show off emotions of sorrow, but in mixture with warmer colors like the orange sunset and pink clouds, the negative emotions are sort of pushed away, creating emotions of comfort and relief.
