Operation

Gouge out my eyes, and stitch the lids up.
Pluck each eyelash from its follicle.
One by one by one, my teeth must go, so
They will not interfere when you sew my jaws shut.

Burn my fingers and cut my nails back.
Hammer them into my palms.
Let my wrists bleed in your lap, and
Bandage them up, so they heal by next time.

Make me a mess of a man, beaten to the pain,
Legless at the finish line, and
Fingerless at the dinner table,
Remnants of my face drowning in a trough.

Take my heart, take my brain,
Take my soul, take my mind,
You can tear me into pieces, but
You will never take my spine
