The key has binary functions : to lock or to unlock. With the key, I lock up raw emotions, emerging from anxiety about the COVID 19 pandemic, resentment on the death of George Floyd, and even anger about the small actions taken upon climate issues. Similar to my locked up emotions, people often keep their anxieties to themselves rather than expressing it. All of these suppressed emotions are portrayed through the keys that are in the form of a ball. On the other hand, the emotions that are released are visualized through keys flying away, revealing a shape of a keyhole. The light that smears out of the keyhole idealizes hope among the raw emotions people may feel.
