remains and thresholds

RemainsandThresholds1.jpeg

My series Remains and Thresholds explores what emerges from abandonment. The spaces that have become deserted during the pandemic will be filling up again soon with people and movement and noise. The stillness of the empty nest reminds me of empty school hallways and dark office buildings. No one can ever fully discover a place--it was someone's home once, maybe someone thought they owned it or they were just passing through. The afterlife of uninhabited spaces reflects the life after “real life,” what we took for granted. Re-entering feels both familiar and unfamiliar, like we’re reimagining our surroundings with the remade versions of ourselves.
