still
This is a watercolor painting in which I practiced realism; I observed the dining table in my kitchen and intentionally placed all the objects close to each other. I named the piece ‘Still’ simply because I was observing inanimate, commonplace objects like food and a cup. This was an attempt to create a modern still-life painting and was inspired by other famous still-life paintings, such as The Basket of Apples, Rideau, Cruchon et Compotier, etc. I drew fruits because fruits are ubiquitous subjects in still-life paintings, and I can utilize a variety of colors and textures.
