BRECK SCHOOL STAFF

Ben O’Brien is a 12th grade student at Breck School, and is captivated by all things literature. He is an editor of the school art/literary magazine Ars Nova, and in his free time he likes to play tennis and make music. At Up North Lit he hopes to cultivate a tight-knit community of artists and writers in Minnesota and beyond, and meet all sorts of new people.

Parker Kelly is a senior at Breck School who is involved in activities such as the Community Action Council and the English peer tutoring program. Parker hopes to immerse the upper school community in literary work with Up North Lit. 

Helen Maher is a junior at Breck School and a student editor up Up North Lit. He is an editor of Breck’s literary magazine Ars Nova and an avid reader. Helen is interested in anything arts related but mainly focuses on music, theater, and poetry. Through partnering with Up North Lit he hopes to create connections in the Minneapolis art scene and help young artists flourish. 

Lulu McGarry is in 11th grade at Breck School. She loves to read and is involved in the school's literary magazine and newspaper. She does many sports and activities including dance, soccer, and track. One thing she hopes to accomplish through this partnership is connecting with different communities over writing and art.

Kiera Myers is an 11th grader at Breck School. She likes to read and is involved in visual arts classes at Breck. She spends time playing soccer and lacrosse and loves to travel. One thing she hopes to accomplish through this partnership is to connect with kids in different communities and highlight their work.

Marcus Newby, born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is a senior, attending Breck school. He avidly engages in the creative arts and writing realm, and thrives in creative environments. He is an artist, musician, and a pretty good basketball player. Marcus hopes to curate an encouraging, inclusive space for creatives and learn from his peers. 

Rudo Zishiri is currently a junior at Breck school in Golden Valley, Minnesota. Anyone who knows her knows that she loves literature and has a deep appreciation for art. Although she’s never written a book, she does plan to publish a book of poems in the not-too-distant future. When she’s not at school or writing poems or screenplays, she enjoys playing ice hockey. Her favorite superheroes are Ironman and Spiderman, and she LOVES cookies & cream ice cream. She hopes to learn to work well with others to maintain a literary magazine and improve on her poetry-editing skills.
