STUDIO 54

i am in a vision:
the mirrored hallway
the carpet in thick rubies
shedding my coat
somewhere on the floor
who cares? be free
eat the blood
be the hound
just growl or whimper
or howl, but whatever it is,
be a smudged newspaper photo
a line of gossip, a wish
be the fantasy
oversized glasses
hot, sexy
i am in me, i am
my ribs & sweaty jeans
a heart locket burns
into my skin: the shape
is still there in the morning.

CAROUSEL OF THE ZODIAC

for Mina Loy

lover, i had a dream, looking for you
long through the oracle of delphi

silent stones, an oracle without images,
no tarot journeys, just one-sided dreams

i searched after the rains, its light dew
all warm, fuzzy, full of petrichor

here, waves are tiny emeralds, clear rhinestones
washing up on shore, dreamy dust coating

my eyelids, you are a spellbook i cannot read
i know the spells by heart

i’m searching the world, i’m in your bed
sweaty with sex-skin-seeds

open your mouth, i’ll trace my fingers there
spit up pearls, or find

the elixir deep within my body, kiss my
back, and we can drink immortality right here

lover, your hand is outstretched, waiting
my eyes open, i cannot reach it.
